| Organizations
Supported by GGS
GGS Information Services has a long
history of actively supporting a wide range of social,
civic, and service organizations in our communities.
Primary among these are the local
chapter of
The Easter Seals Society, which helps to provide
needed therapeutic and recreational opportunities to those
with physical and developmental handicaps, as well as needed
and costly medical equipment. GGS supports this association
through our fund-raising participation in the annual Office Olympix contest held each May, an evening of games and
activities held in conjunction with other area businesses.
GGS also actively supports the
York
County (PA) Food Bank, through participation in its annual
“Ride For Hunger” motorcycle event, as well as
charitable
donations made throughout the year.
Other past support from GGS has
benefited other organizations such as The American Red
Cross,
The Salvation Army,
The United Way Campaign, and many
others.

The Rea M. Kilker Scholarship Fund
In December 1997, GGS Information Services established the Rea M.
Kilker Scholarship Fund at York
College
in York, PA.
This
Fund is a permanent endowment that annually awards scholarships
to the dependent children of GGS employees who are pursuing a baccalaureate
degree and who are worthy of scholarship support as determined by
the College’s financial aid office.
Selected candidates must be enrolled as full-time
students during the regular academic year. Scholarships may be renewed
for academic years subsequent to the initial year, subject to satisfactory,
full-time progress with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
GGS is proud to support educational opportunities
in our communities through such initiatives as The Rea M. Kilker
Scholarship Fund.
The Dr. Jack Stott
Scholarship For Information Management
In mid-2004, GGS Information Services announced the creation of
the Stott Scholarship in conjunction with York College of Pennsylvania,
in memory of the late Dr. Jack W. Stott, associate professor of
the Business Administration Department at the college.
Dr. Stott passed away July 5, 2004, after a brief
but hard-fought battle with cancer, and for more than 10 years,
was instrumental in developing and advancing the Information Technology
and Computer Sciences curriculums for students attending York College.
His professional calling included teaching positions at the University
of Hawaii from 1984 to 1989, the nearby University of Maryland Baltimore
County from 1989 to 1993, and at York College of Pennsylvania from
1993 until his recent passing.
The fund was established in late July, in recognition
of the many accomplishments of Professor Stott, by Mr. Paul Kilker,
president of GGS, and is co-sponsored in collaboration with Dr.
Stott’s family, his academic colleagues throughout the U.S.,
and friends throughout the south-central Pennsylvania region.
Contributors may elect to make multi-year pledges
of support to the fund. For those who wish to contribute in other
ways, York College of Pennsylvania can arrange for other types of
gifts as well, including stock, gifts-in-kind, and planned gifts
such as bequests, charitable gift annuities, trusts, and more.
The Jack W. Stott Memorial Scholarship is a permanent
endowed fund of York College of Pennsylvania. All contributions
received will be gratefully acknowledged and recognized by the College,
and contributors will also be recognized at the web site established
specifically for the fund, accessible from a link located at the
College web site at www.ycp.edu.
Those eligible for the Stott Scholarship must
be full-time students (at least twelve credit hours per term) of
Junior or Senior level status (60 credits or more). Scholarships
will be awarded to a student majoring in Information Management
Systems or Business Administration, with an interest in Information
Systems, who has maintained a 3.0 grade point average and has demonstrated
financial need.
Scholarships may be renewed for students who maintain
a minimum grade point average of 3.0. The amount of the scholarship
award will be determined each year based on a three-year rolling
average return on the invested principal of the general scholarship
pool of the College and the spending rule established by the College.
Those wishing to assist the Scholarship fund may
direct contributions (made payable to "York College/Stott Scholarship")
to York College of Pennsylvania, York, PA 17405. An acknowledgement
letter will be sent from the college, noting receipt of the gift.
Environmental
Awareness
In addition, GGS Information Services fosters a "Good Neighbor"
approach as a corporate citizen, in terms of undertaking various
initiatives involving efficient land use, building planning and
energy use. The firm’s headquarters facility is a modern-design,
two-story structure, and was specifically design-built to obtain
the highest standards for energy conservation. GGS has been previously
recognized by the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), due to its many green
initiatives in energy-conservation and usage.
