GGS Recognized as "Employer of the Year"
By Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry

YORK, PA --- GGS Information Services, 3265 Farmtrail Road, was recently named as the "Employer of the Year" for 2003 by the Department of Labor and Industry’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

In a recognition ceremony held at the firms’ headquarters September 18, Paul Kilker, President of GGS, accepted the award from Barb Grigg, RN, employer liaison with HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of York, and David Baum, placement counselor with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. The award is presented in conjunction with HealthSouth and was given to GGS as part of the observance of National Rehabilitation Week, September 15-19.

"We at GGS are extremely grateful to receive this award," noted Kilker, who added "to be recognized by one of our own employees is truly a wonderful gesture indeed, and accurately reflects the true spirit of teamwork which exists at GGS."

Representatives from both HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of York, as well as the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, were also on hand for the presentation.

Also on hand was Troy Stamer of York, a GGS employee in the firm’s document scanning group, who initially recommended that his employer be recognized for its outstanding efforts in its hiring of those with disabilities.

"This is the best place that I've ever worked at," noted Troy, who added, "everybody is real nice to me, I feel valued and like I’m a part of the GGS Team, and I feel like I belong here. I just wanted to show how much I appreciate it by nominating GGS as the Employer of the Year."

The Employer of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation is now in its ninth year, and is presented annually to Pennsylvania businesses which strive to make special efforts in hiring or accommodating those with various forms of physical or developmental disabilities. For 2003, GGS shares Employer of the Year honors with Wal-Mart of York (East store).
