Co-Sponsors New Stott Scholarship For
Information Management Curriculum at York College of Pennsylvania

Farmtrail Road, York, has announced the creation of the Stott Scholarship
in conjunction with York College of Pennsylvania, in memory of the
late Dr. Jack W. Stott, associate professor of the Business Administration
Department at the college.
Dr. Stott passed away July 5, 2004, after a
brief but hard-fought battle with cancer, and for more than 10 years,
was instrumental in developing and advancing the Information Technology
and Computer Sciences curriculums for students attending York College.
His professional calling included teaching positions at the University
of Hawaii from 1984 to 1989, the nearby University of Maryland Baltimore
County from 1989 to 1993, and at York College of Pennsylvania from
1993 until his recent passing.
The fund was established in late July, in recognition
of the many accomplishments of Professor Stott, by Mr. Paul Kilker,
president of GGS, and is co-sponsored in collaboration with Dr.
Stott’s family, his academic colleagues throughout the U.S.,
and friends throughout the south-central Pennsylvania region.
Contributors may elect to make multi-year pledges
of support to the fund. For those who wish to contribute in other
ways, York College of Pennsylvania can arrange for other types of
gifts as well, including stock, gifts-in-kind, and planned gifts
such as bequests, charitable gift annuities, trusts, and more.
The Jack W. Stott Memorial Scholarship is a
permanent endowed fund of York College of Pennsylvania. All contributions
received will be gratefully acknowledged and recognized by the College,
and contributors will also be recognized at the web site established
specifically for the fund, accessible from a link located at the
College web site at www.ycp.edu.
Those eligible for the Stott Scholarship must
be full-time students (at least twelve credit hours per term) of
Junior or Senior level status (60 credits or more). Scholarships
will be awarded to a student majoring in Information Management
Systems or Business Administration, with an interest in Information
Systems, who has maintained a 3.0 grade point average and has demonstrated
financial need.
Scholarships may be renewed for students who
maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0.The amount of the
scholarship award will be determined each year based on a three-year
rolling average return on the invested principal of the general
scholarship pool of the College and the spending rule established
by the College.
The Jack W. Stott Memorial Scholarship is a
permanent endowed fund of York College of Pennsylvania. Contributions
may be made payable to "York College/Stott Scholarship"
and mailed to York College of Pennsylvania, York, PA 17405. An acknowledgement
letter will be sent from the college, noting recipt of the gift.
