Document Imaging Technology From DocuScan USA® Keeps
Leading Construction Firm "On The Grow"

YORK, PA --- Wagman Construction, Inc. of York, PA, had the typical ‘growing pains’ of any successful company.

Started more than 100 years ago in south central Pennsylvania, the company, a leader in both commercial building and heavy construction, found that its headquarters facility was utilizing a vast amount of space to store drawings, blueprints and the other project paperwork needed for their growing list of clients.

And over time as the company grew and expanded its efforts beyond York County, more paperwork quickly followed.

"Drawings, site plans, bids, subcontractor agreements – you name it," said Jon Bubb, vice president of operations, "We were looking for a solution that would give us instant access to all of our files but could also convert our inefficient storage space to useful space."

The timing was right when DocuScan USA® – also of York - approached them with a possible solution. DocuScan USA is a full-service document imaging provider that supplies software, image-capture hardware, technical support, back-file scanning and reproduction services to customers in the mid-Atlantic region.

DocuScan submitted a comprehensive proposal for document imaging that could not only eliminate Wagman’s serious document storage problems, but could also help index and archive documents quickly and efficiently for not only their employees but also their valued customers as well.

And, once DocuScan USA considered the importance of accessing Wagman’s file information for the many local and state regulatory agencies involved in the siting, building and permitting process, they structured a practical solution that would not only solve their space and retrieval problems, but would also give them added security and disaster recovery of all of their vital records, too.

In June 2003, Wagman installed the system recommended and specified by DocuScan, one which incorporated LaserFiche® software which is noted for its accessibility, security and archiving features.

What Wagman found shortly after the installation of their new system was that it gave them yet another sales advantage in working with clients in the highly competitive design-build market of central Pennsylvania.

"In the past, we provided building owners with several binders containing their own unique specifications," said Dave Cross, president. "But binders were often bulky, and hard to handle when searching for a specific document. Now, we hand them one compact disk (a CD) that’s easy to use, especially on a laptop computer on-site. And better yet, anyone within the office can now view, print, or email documents from their workstation. The whole process makes our job more efficient and productive. For us at Wagman, we can find any document just by typing in the job or customer name."

"Wagman is the best at what we do," notes Bubb of operations, "But with the implementation of our new document management system, we can concentrate our efforts more fully on our award-winning construction efforts, and not waste time manually searching through boxes and file cabinets full of records and documents."
